Valleyfest XXXVIII was held on October 7, 2017. This was the 38th consecutive year that the Valley Bands have hosted the best high school marching bands from Iowa and surrounding states in an exciting day of marching excellence.
Plan to arrive early, give yourself at least 40 minutes to park, get tickets, and get seats after arriving at the stadium
Parking – please refer to the “Parking” tab of this page for more information on parking locations including a map of parking locations.
Handicapped Parking and Spectator Drop Off: There are handicapped parking spaces available immediately adjacent to the stadium at the upper (west side) stadium lot. Only vehicles displaying state issued handicapped parking permits will be allowed to park in these spaces. Drop offs will be permitted for guests with mobility challenges, and nearby parking reserved in the closest church lot for drivers of these guests.
Tickets are available at the ticketing silos located outside the west entrance of Valley Stadium. Payment forms for tickets will be cash or credit card. There will be an ATM located on site. Prices are as follows:
- All day-night, $15
- Day show only, $10
- Showdown (night show) only, $10
- Students K-12 (all day-night), $5
- Children (5 and under), free
- ($2 discount will be given to seniors 55+)
Programs are available for purchase for $3 on the day of Valleyfest, and include the schedule for the day’s events as well as information for each participating school’s program.
Concessions – The Valley Band Boosters will operate two concession stands at Valley Stadium all day and throughout the evening. Commemorative apparel will also be available for purchase. Payment options for apparel and tickets will be by cash or credit cards. Concessions will be cash only. There will be an ATM located on site.

Lost and Found items will be collected in the Event Center. Valley School Bands, Valley Band Boosters, and West Des Moines Community Schools cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen articles.
Please note that the entire stadium must be cleared between the Day Show and Showdown events.

All performances are at Valley Stadium located at 4440 Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines, 50265. Please make sure that all drivers know that the stadium is NOT next to the highschool, and following an address listed for Valley High School will result in a major delay. We have included a vicinity map from the major thoroughfares to the stadium area. Keep in mind that busses, equipment, and spectators will all be directed to different locations within this area.
Please keep in mind the areas we use for Valleyfest include properties owned by the West Des Moines Community Schools, the City of West Des Moines and two local churches. (Valley Evangelical Free Church and West Des Moines Christian Church) We will do our best to direct you around any restricted areas and we ask that you follow the directions of the Valleyfest staff to navigate the campus.

Attached are maps showing a bird’s eye view of the stadium area and a site map. We are emailing you SPECIFIC PARKING DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR BAND AND EQUIPMENT. Please make copies of these maps for all of your drivers.

*** PLEASE NOTE – PIT ASSISTANCE TO THE STADIUM ***
We have record requests for pit assistance into the stadium this year. If you requested assistance into the stadium, we can promise the use of only one rig/trailer. We will certainly provide additional rigs whenever possible, but at certain times of the day and evening we know it will not be possible. Please plan appropriately for the assistance of only one trailer.
DIRECTOR PARKING: All director parking is located in the upper west lot. No exceptions. Passes will be given upon entry.
FOR PARENTS AND GENERAL PUBLIC
We recommend that spectators arrive at least 40 minutes before their band’s performance to allow time for parking, ticketing, and seating:
Public Parking is available for Valleyfest at the Learning Resource Center, Valley Church (east side only until 5:45pm), West Des Moines Christian Church, and the Valley Community Center (12:30pm-12am only). Please note that church lot availability will vary depending on the time of day/night, so please be aware of the signage posted.
Please take note of posted “NO PARKING” and “Private Resident Parking Only” street signs. No parking is enforced in these areas. Residents will call to have cars ticketed and towed.
West Des Moines Library parking is restricted to library patrons during their business hours. The library parking lots can be used by the public after 5 PM.
To accommodate church traffic, please use the EAST entrance from Fuller Road for access to the Valley Church parking lot until 5:45pm. After that time, both east and west entrances will be open from Fuller Road and the entire lot will be open for public use. The Learning Resource Center lot is best accessed off of South 35th Street.

Bus and Equipment Parking Lots; No Public Access:
The remaining lots surrounding the stadium, City Hall and the adjoining access roads are used for emergency vehicle, bus, and band equipment parking. No public access is available. Please do not attempt to drop off students here from personal vehicles. Use the Spectator Drop-off area. You may also use the library lot for band student drop off. It is the closest public access to the bus lot. All band equipment and refreshments should be loaded on the equipment vehicles or buses. Due to recent fire lane restriction enforcement, no personal vehicle parking is available by West Des Moines City Hall. Personal vehicles are not allowed in these lots at any time.
We can’t make Valleyfest happen without an army of volunteers. We need 470 volunteers to pull off this event! We need help with parking , crowd control, concessions, and a ton of other things.
